Collection: Jimmy Law
Jimmy Law creates kaleidoscopic portraits of feminine subjects, as well as Hollywood stars like Jack Nicholson and Marilyn Monroe. These muscular paintings — made with large brushes and a palette knife — are complicated by his use of both minute, tightly controlled marks and broad, blocky strokes. Subjects’ facial features are depicted in close detail, while cheeks and foreheads blur and appear to dissolve into the works’ backgrounds.
Law’s style reflects his past careers as a freelance graphic designer and comic book illustrator. He has extensively exhibited throughout his native South Africa and has also shown in the United Kingdom and France.
