The Cornershop (London, 2014) recreated a complete convenience store in felt, nearly 400 hand-sewn pieces replacing every item on the shelves. 8 'Til Late (New York, 2017) — a felt bodega installed at The Standard, High Line — sold 9,000 pieces in a single week. Lucy's Delicatessen on 6th, her felt McDonald's installation at Art Basel Miami 2019, brought the same transformative logic to the most ubiquitous fast food brand in the world.
The felt medium is central rather than incidental. It is the material of childhood craft and of industrial manufacture simultaneously — warm, tactile, slightly absurd — and its application to the objects of everyday consumption gives those objects a quality of tenderness that the originals entirely lack.
