About Paul Oz: Motorsport in Thick Paint
Paul Oz is a self-taught British artist who paints Formula 1 drivers in thick oil applied with a palette knife, aiming for energy, movement and a strong three-dimensional effect. According to his website, he has worked with most of the teams on the grid, and his commissions include a ten-year project with McLaren, work for Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, pieces made with the families of Ayrton Senna and James Hunt, and paintings for the 1000th Grand Prix in China and the Silverstone podium trophies. His subjects also include Star Wars, shown in his Art of Star Wars exhibition.
Hand-Embellished Canvases and Paper Editions
Paul Oz issues hand-embellished canvas editions alongside his originals. Each starts as a limited-edition giclée canvas, on which he adds thick paint with the same tools as the original, so that every canvas is individually finished. He also releases signed paper editions.
Our Paul Oz Works
Our canvas editions are Senna – Monaco '92, Vettel – Silverstone '18 and He's No Good to Me Dead (Boba Fett), each £1,485. Il Primo (Schumacher) has sold as a canvas but is available as a paper edition, as is Vettel – Silverstone '18, at £445. The Ferrari 360 Spider Engine Cover (£13,995) is mixed media on an original Ferrari 360 Spider engine cover and a unique work.
