Creed Gallery in Ascot, Berkshire, offers work by TBOY, the British urban artist who trained in fine art and 3D design and worked in bespoke frame-making before building a career in streetwear and rare trainers. About TBOY
TBOY studied fine art and then 3D design at Worthing College of Art and Design, then trained in bespoke frame-making and colour finishing. He later built a business selling rare trainers and streetwear, and returned to art seriously during the 2020 lockdown. His work draws on music, cultural icons and moments in history, with bold colour and texture and a mix of sharp detail, wit and commentary. He increasingly makes one-off pieces and small runs of limited editions, and the streetwear background shows in his eye for finish and collectability.
The Icons
The Icons is about what makes an image iconic: faces and symbols recognisable enough to stand alone. It sets motifs that recall Banksy, Basquiat and KAWS against a neon graffiti background, and is offered framed. It's a tribute in TBOY's own hand, not a work by any of those artists.
