About Ben Eine: The Shoreditch Shutters
Ben Eine (b. 1970) stands as a pivotal figure in contemporary British street art. Born in London, his transformation of the city's shop shutters into vibrant letterform galleries defined the Shoreditch visual aesthetic of the 2000s. He elevated typographic graffiti traditions into the mainstream gallery sphere with what has been described as "the formal authority of a painting and the immediate legibility of a sign."
The Alphabet Series
Eine's artistic practice centres on monumental letterforms rendered with deliberate composition and palette. The Alphabet Series represents his conceptual apex — each letter receiving individual visual treatment to create "a visual argument about language, form, and the relationship between the written and the seen that is as conceptually ambitious as anything in contemporary British art."
Collecting Ben Eine at Creed Gallery
Eine's global recognition arrived in 2010, when Prime Minister David Cameron selected one of his paintings as the official presidential gift to Barack Obama — confirmation that his work operates at the intersection of public and fine art. Creed Gallery currently holds B - Purple at £600, available for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey and London.
Why Collect Ben Eine
Eine's Alphabet Series gives typography the conceptual weight of painting, backed by a piece of genuine political history — few street artists can claim a head of government chose their work as a diplomatic gift. As with any artist, individual pieces vary in demand and value — our team is happy to talk you through the specifics of any work you're considering.
