Collection: Felicity Rowbotham | Oil Painting & Ceramics
Felicity Cressida Rowbotham is a London-based artist whose practice spans two distinct but formally related disciplines — wheel-thrown ceramics and figurative oil painting — unified by a shared language of rhythm, movement, and the balance between control and spontaneity that characterises her approach to both.
Her ceramics are made entirely by hand in her studio, each piece unique. Trained at the Leach Pottery in Cornwall — one of Britain's most respected institutions for ceramic craft, founded by Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada and central to the development of the British studio pottery tradition — she developed a technical foundation grounded in the principles of handmade pottery while finding her own direction within them. Her vessels are known for fluid, sculptural forms and joyful glazes — objects that, as she has described them, "live beautifully in everyday life." Her palette draws from natural tones: ocean blues, chalk whites, vivid greens that echo the elements of earth, water, and fire through which each piece passes.
Her figurative oil paintings approach the female body, light, and movement with the same sensibility — expressive compositions on wood and canvas that share with the ceramics a quality of tactile experimentation and an appreciation for the beauty found in imperfection. Both practices are, at their core, investigations of form.
In 2023 she gained national recognition as a contestant on The Great Pottery Throw Down, where her expressive forms and thoughtful approach resonated with audiences across the UK. Her ceramics have been featured by Selfridges and Hakkasan London. She has exhibited at Craftworks London and in design and craft shows across the UK.
Available through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
