About Inam: From Karachi to the Woodlands
Inam was born and brought up in Karachi, Pakistan, where an influential art teacher gave him a solid technical grounding. According to his gallery biography he went on to attend art schools in London, Istanbul and Atlanta, and he has lived in the United States since making his professional debut in 2001. His style has been called "magical expressionism".
The Work: Mist, Birch and Changing Seasons
His subjects are forests shrouded in mist, silver birches glowing in moonlight and the colours of each season, from the gold and red of autumn to the pale light of dawn. He builds his oil surfaces in layers, and our two large originals are worked in thick palette-knife oil. His Enchanted Woodland series is his best-known body of work, and Sunrise Sailingshows him working with coast and water.
