Collection: Leo Manelli | Classical Masters Reimagined
Leo Manelli is an Italian painter renowned for his distinctive fusions of traditional and modern artistic styles — revisiting masterpieces of nineteenth-century art and reinterpreting them for a twenty-first century audience, creating work characterised by intricate detail, vibrant colour, unexpected juxtapositions, and the drawing together of people, places, and times.
His formation was rigorous and classical. From a young age, Manelli was deeply immersed in the world of art, dedicating countless hours to studying and mastering the techniques of the old masters at the Fine Art Academy in Florence. His early career was in art restoration — working directly with the surfaces of seventeenth and eighteenth-century paintings, developing an understanding of their technical construction that no amount of academic study alone could provide.
That foundation is visible in everything he makes. He meticulously reproduces masterpieces, often sourced from prestigious museum collections, then appropriates these works to bridge the centuries — breathing life into artworks of timeless beauty by introducing anachronistic elements drawn from contemporary luxury culture, street art, and Pop Art. The result is a visual conversation between eras that is simultaneously reverential and irreverent — a practice that could only be sustained by someone who knows the originals with the intimacy of a restorer.
His Atlas of Art and Art Party series — available through Creed Gallery — bring this dialogue between past and present to its most ambitious compositional scale. Available through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
