Andy Warhol (1928–1987) — Skull, 1976 (Red Skull)
Andy Warhol (1928–1987) was the leading figure of American Pop art, turning soup cans, celebrity portraits and everyday imagery into a vocabulary of repetition, bold colour and commercial silkscreen. His prints of the 1960s and 1970s remain among the most recognisable images of the twentieth century.
Skull, 1976 refers to Warhol's Skulls series of 1976, in which he reworked a photograph of a human skull in bold, flat colour, a Pop update of the classic memento mori. This is an 'After Warhol' reproduction in the Red Skull colourway: it is not an original Warhol print and is not signed by the artist.
Available through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
