Andy Warhol (1928–1987) — Sunset, from Hotel Marquette

Andy Warhol (1928–1987) was the leading figure of American Pop art, turning soup cans, celebrity portraits and everyday imagery into a vocabulary of repetition, bold colour and commercial silkscreen. His prints of the 1960s and 1970s remain among the most recognisable images of the twentieth century.

Warhol created his Sunset screenprints in 1972 for the Hotel Marquette in Minneapolis, commissioned by architects Johnson & Burgee; 632 unique screenprints were made in total, 472 of them for the hotel itself. This is an 'After Warhol' reproduction of that image: it is not an original Warhol print and is not signed by the artist.
