Bradley Theodore — The Crown (2021)
Bradley Theodore is a Turks and Caicos-born, New York-based artist whose energetic, large-scale paintings transform cultural icons into skeletal figures, revealing through the specific vocabulary of anatomy what lies beneath fame, status and surface glamour. Trained across graffiti, design and fine art, he has built an instantly recognisable visual language of vivid, gestural colour applied to skeletal form — work exhibited internationally and collected alongside major contemporary names.
"The Crown" (2021) turns Theodore's skeletal portraiture toward the most recognisable royal image in the world — a profile rendered in fractured blues, pinks and teals beneath an unmistakable gold crown and ermine-trimmed robe. It is Theodore's signature juxtaposition at its most pointed: the pageantry of monarchy set against the anatomy underneath it.
