Opake One — Mickey Stormtrooper

Opake One is a UK-based street artist known for fusing pop-cultural iconography with the techniques of graffiti and urban art, working across spray paint, resin, and mixed media to produce large-scale works that play with the tension between nostalgia and subversion.

Mickey Stormtrooper collides two of the most globally recognisable figures in twentieth-century popular culture — Disney’s Mickey Mouse and the Star Wars Stormtrooper — into a single hybrid image, the cheerful Mickey silhouette refitted with the Stormtrooper’s white armour. The resin finish gives the surface a depth and gloss that reinforces the work’s relationship to both street art and the high-production-value world of commercial franchise imagery it is reworking.
