The Connor Brothers — Hell Is Empty and All the Devils Are Here
The Connor Brothers is the joint name of British artists Mike Snelle and James Golding, who built their early reputation on a fictional backstory before stepping forward as themselves. Their signature technique layers hand-painted text over vintage pulp paperback covers and mid-century pin-up imagery.
This work takes its title from Shakespeare’s The Tempest — “Hell is empty, and all the devils are here” — set beneath a blue-toned, partially torn image of a woman glancing out from behind a raised arm.
Available through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
Mixed media, hand-painted with silkscreen elements
116 x 179 cm
