Celestial Surveillance II
Original mixed media
Celestial Surveillance II is among the most formally ambitious works in Bram Reijnders' mixed media practice — a painting that takes the language of surveillance culture and places it in a cosmic context, asking what it would mean to be watched not by cameras and algorithms but by the sky itself. The Dutch artist's characteristic visual density is deployed here in service of a subject that is both contemporary and ancient: the experience of being observed, of existing under the gaze of something larger than the self.
The mixed media surface brings together layers of paint, collage, and drawing in a composition that rewards extended examination — each passage of the surface revealing new detail, new connections, new elements that were not immediately visible. This is the second iteration of a compositional idea that Reijnders has been developing, and it shows: the confidence and clarity of a painter who knows exactly what he is doing.
Available through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
