Banksy's 'Di-Faced Tenner,' created in 2004, is a satirical artwork resembling a £10 note. It replaces Queen Elizabeth II's portrait with that of Princess Diana and alters the text to read "Banksy of England." This piece critiques the commercialisation of art and society's obsession with money and celebrity. Originally distributed at events and thrown into crowds, the notes have since become collectable items.
Notably, the 'Di-Faced Tenner' is part of the British Museum's permanent coin collection, cementing its status as a culturally significant work. Additionally, the notes are incorporated into Banksy's Pest Control certificates, which authenticate his artworks, further blending themes of value, authenticity and subversion in his practice.
