White on Blue II develops the colour relationship of the first White on Blue work through the additional material complexity of mixed media — paint combined with additional substances that introduce new surface qualities, new textures, new relationships between the white gestural mark and the deep blue ground beneath it. The II designation marks this as a more developed, more resolved version of the initial proposition.

Paul's abstract calligraphy practice achieves in this work a balance between the spontaneity of the single confident gesture and the accumulated complexity of a surface built through sustained engagement. Available through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
