The Art Party II continues Leo Manelli's most celebratory series — works in which the great figures of art history are gathered together in compositions that are simultaneously homage and subversion, the masters of Western painting placed in the context of the contemporary party with all the anachronistic collision that entails. The II designation marks this as the second engagement with the concept: returning to a subject that proved rich enough to revisit, the accumulated understanding of the first work present in the greater formal confidence of the second.
