The White Rose introduces into the Skull Banker series one of the most symbolically loaded of natural objects — the white rose carrying associations of innocence, purity, and the specifically English tradition of the Wars of the Roses. In the context of the Skull Banker — whose suits speak of the City of London, of financial power, of the specifically English establishment — the white rose creates a tension that is both aesthetically and historically charged.
