Mary-Jane Alexander — 3 Brothers
Mary-Jane Alexander is a painter born in Zimbabwe who has lived and worked in the UK since 1977, now based in Surrey. Classically trained in anatomy, life drawing and sculpture, she is known for her rich, confident impasto brushwork and vivid, dramatic use of colour, dividing her time between Surrey and a studio in Campania, in the south of Italy.
3 Brothers is a rich, jewel-toned still life featuring a full head of pink hydrangea and white blossom in a dark glass vase, set against a dark decorative vessel and a pair of lemons in the foreground. A warm ochre and coral background brings out the intensity of the pink flowerheads in this smaller, intimate composition.
Available through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
