Pure Energy
Original mixed media
Maxim — Keith Palmer, frontman of The Prodigy since the band's inception in 1990, the voice and visual presence behind some of the most visceral performances in the history of electronic music — has been making visual art under the pseudonym MM for over two decades. His journey to the canvas began at an art fair where he left empty-handed and unimpressed: "After looking around and seeing what was on display, and looking at the prices, it made me realise that I could create artwork just as good myself." He began painting that same week.
Pure Energy translates the defining quality of Maxim's musical persona — the physical, overwhelming energy that has made The Prodigy's live shows among the most talked-about in contemporary music — into visual terms. The mixed media process allows him to build surfaces of considerable material richness, using acrylic, spray paint, resin, and additional found materials to create objects of genuine tactile presence. The figure in Pure Energy radiates power and calm simultaneously — the paradoxical quality that has always defined Maxim's own stage presence.
Available through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
