Poppy Faun works at the intersection of collage, painting, and feminist cultural commentary — a practice that takes the visual language of vintage magazines, advertising, and popular culture and transforms it into something that interrogates the images it appropriates. Good Girls Go To Heaven is among her most direct titles — a phrase with a long cultural history, from Mae West's famous inversion ("good girls go to heaven, bad girls go everywhere") to the broader tradition of feminist art that has always been interested in what goodness costs women.

The collage painting technique allows Faun to layer meanings as well as materials — the cut and assembled imagery carrying the history of its sources even as it is transformed by its new context. This is work that rewards sustained looking: the more you examine the surface, the more you find.
