Robert Indiana (1928–2018)
LOVE — Stable Gallery Exhibition Poster
Unnumbered edition

Robert Indiana, born Robert Clark, was one of the defining figures of American Pop art. His LOVE composition — the stacked, tilted letters that became one of the most reproduced images of the twentieth century — first took its familiar hard-edge form in the mid-1960s, developed from a series of rubbings the artist made in 1964.

This poster was produced for Indiana's exhibition at New York's Stable Gallery, the same gallery where he had held his first solo New York show in 1962. It is among the earliest printed appearances of the LOVE design in public circulation, predating the image's ascent to global recognition, and remains one of the most historically significant pieces of ephemera connected to the work's origin.

Available through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
