Light and Dark is Simon Kenny's most formally direct title — naming the fundamental opposition that organises all visual art, the contrast without which neither term has meaning. His lyrical abstraction engages with this opposition not as a compositional device but as a subject in its own right: the specific quality of their relationship, the way light and dark define each other, the tension that generates the visual energy his best work consistently achieves.
