Felix — the name carrying associations from the Roman virtue of happiness and good fortune, to Felix the Cat, the early cartoon character whose black-and-white simplicity is an obvious precursor to Slawn's own graphic instincts — gives the Nigerian-British artist a subject whose cultural resonances align perfectly with his practice. Slawn's visual language is built from the intersection of cartoon form, graffiti energy, and the specific visual culture of the global African diaspora.

The youngest and first Nigerian-born artist to design the Brit Awards statuette (2023) and the FA Cup Trophy (2024), Slawn has established himself as one of the most significant young voices in contemporary art in a matter of years.
