Slawn (b. 2000) — Three Arthurs

Slawn’s recurring figure — a pink-domed head, wide-set eyes, and an exaggerated, downturned red mouth — has become his most recognisable motif. The character has also drawn debate, with some viewers reading it as uncomfortably close to historical racist caricature; Slawn has pushed back directly, telling one interviewer, “I’m not even painting ‘coons’, I’m painting clowns.”

Three Arthurs lines up a row of these figures in matching suits and red ties, the uniformity flattening identity into something closer to corporate conformity.
