Lagos is where Slawn's story begins — the Nigerian megalopolis where he grew up, where he discovered Wafflesncream, Nigeria's first skate shop, where he met the friends who would become Motherlan, the apparel group that brought his work to international attention before he had made a single painting. Lagos carries the full weight of his origin in the Worldwide series: this is the city from which everything else follows, the place whose specific qualities — energy, colour, the intersection of tradition and rapid modernity — are present in everything he makes.

Slawn's transition to painting occurred during London lockdown in 2020. His debut exhibition at Truman Brewery in 2021 sold out. He debuted at Sotheby's in 2022. The trajectory has been remarkable. Available through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
