Slawn (Olaolu Akeredolu-Ale, b. 2000)
Los Angeles Worldwide
Limited edition
Slawn — born Olaolu Akeredolu-Ale in Lagos, Nigeria in 2000, now based in London — is one of the most significant young artists to have emerged from the British creative scene in recent years. His practice intersects street art with abstract expressionism, rooted in Yoruba heritage and contemporary societal themes, exploring politics, race, and identity through a visual language of bold graphic forms and instinctive mark-making that has attracted collectors including ASAP Rocky and Skepta. In 2023 he became the youngest and first Nigerian-born artist to design the Brit Awards statuette, and in 2024 the FA Cup Trophy.
The Worldwide series takes specific cities — the places that have shaped Slawn's practice and his cultural world — and responds to them through his characteristic visual language. Los Angeles, the city that built the skateboarding and street art cultures that were foundational to his early development, receives a visual treatment that carries both the energy of the city and the specificity of his own relationship to it. Available through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
