Standing Figure is one of Stik's most formally distilled works — the single figure, standing alone, without the context of another figure or a specific action. The figure simply is: present, upright, occupying space. In orange — the colour that gives the work its particular warmth and energy — the Standing Figure becomes something between a portrait and a symbol, a specific presence and a universal one simultaneously.

Stik's practice has always been interested in the minimum necessary — six lines and two dots to constitute a human being, the fewest possible marks to register personhood. Standing Figure takes this reduction to its logical conclusion: the figure alone, without relationship or context, asking what it means to simply exist in a space. Framed.
