Ben Jeffery (b. 1986) is a north London artist whose vivid, detailed oil paintings engage with the visual world of cinema, science fiction, and popular culture with the formal intelligence of someone who came to art through a genuine love of it rather than institutional prescription. Growing up in Barnet, he was introduced to painting through a family connection to John Varley — the celebrated eighteenth-century watercolour artist — a heritage that gave him an early understanding of what craft and sustained technical practice actually require.
