مجموعة: Lou Sheldon | Abstract Landscape Painting

Lou Sheldon is an Australian artist whose mixed media paintings bring to the British market a sensibility shaped by a very different landscape — the vast, light-saturated terrain of Australia, whose specific quality of seeing gives her abstractions an atmosphere and a palette distinct from the European tradition.

Her practice is deliberately unstructured — spontaneity and energy are not incidental qualities but the point. She works intuitively, allowing each brushstroke to carry its own decision rather than executing a predetermined composition, the result being paintings that hold the energy of their making in a way that more deliberate processes cannot. Each work is immediate and felt rather than planned and executed.

Her materials are as layered as her surfaces: oils, oil pastels, and gold leaf on canvas and linen, the combination producing works of considerable tactile richness. The linen ground in particular gives the paint a different quality — a slight texture and warmth that connects the painted surface to the natural world her work engages with. The gold leaf introduces passages of luminosity that catch and hold light with a precision that no paint alone can achieve.

Her In Perfect Bloom and Wuthering Romance works — available through Creed Gallery — demonstrate the range of her practice: the botanical at its most joyful, and the atmospheric at its most romantically charged. Available exclusively through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
