About Shepard Fairey: From OBEY Giant to Hope
Shepard Fairey stands as one of the most significant figures at the intersection of graphic design, street art and political activism working in America today. Emerging from the skateboarding and punk scenes of the 1980s, he launched his OBEY Giant campaign in 1989, building a visual language of high-contrast portraiture and constructivist composition that has since moved from stickers and street interventions into murals and mixed media.
The Obama Hope Poster
Fairey's Barack Obama "Hope" poster remains his most iconic single image, entering the permanent collection of the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery and standing as one of the defining pieces of American political art of the past two decades. His broader body of work continues to engage environmentalism and human rights, with pieces held in institutions including MoMA and the V&A Museum.

Why Collect Shepard Fairey
Fairey's work carries a rare combination — genuine street art credibility alongside a piece in the Smithsonian's permanent collection — that few artists working today can match. As with any artist, individual pieces vary in demand and value — our team is happy to talk you through the specifics of any work you're considering.
