A foundational pillar of the 1960s Pop Art movement, Roy Lichtenstein (1923–1997) redefined the boundary between "high" and "low" culture. Best known for his monumental paintings inspired by comic strips and advertisements, Lichtenstein’s work is instantly recognisable for its use of bold primary colours, thick black outlines, and the meticulous hand-painted imitation of mechanical Ben-Day dots.

Unlike his contemporaries who leaned into the speed of screenprinting, Lichtenstein’s process was surprisingly labor-intensive. He projected comic panels onto canvas, refining the composition to create a "heightened" reality that challenged how we perceive mass media. Today, his work sits in the permanent collections of the MoMA, Tate Modern, and the Guggenheim, remaining a blue-chip anchor for serious investors in Ascot, Sunningdale, and Virginia Water.
