Koffins (Bryan Houessou, b. 1999)
La tentation Silencieuse
Original oil on canvas
La tentation Silencieuse — The Silent Temptation — is the defining work of Koffins' 2026 UK debut exhibition Holding the Sky at Creed Gallery, and the painting that has generated the most significant search interest of any work currently in the gallery's collection. The silent temptation is not the dramatic temptation of narrative — not the serpent in the garden or the devil on the mountain — but the quieter, more pervasive quality of desire that operates below the threshold of the dramatic: the thing wanted without being named, the pull felt without being acted upon.
Bryan Houessou — born in 1999, self-taught, formed at the Louvre, painting full-time since 2023 — brings to this subject the formal clarity and emotional precision that characterises his practice at its most fully resolved. The isolated figure against the saturated colour field; the singular emotional presence; the face that communicates without explaining. Available through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
