The Skull Banker Head in red vertical strokes is one of the most viscerally immediate works in the 2025 study series — the red marker dragged downward across the skull face in lines that suggest both hair and blood, both the physical fact of the figure and the emotional temperature of its maker. The dark suit emerges from the lower half of the composition with the architectural precision of a formal portrait, the contrast between the controlled tailoring below and the expressionist fury above capturing in a single image the central tension of Townley's entire Banker series.

This work bears two signatures. Lincoln Townley's full signature appears to the left — the primary authorship of the work confirmed in his hand. A second signature appears at lower right. The identity of the second signatory has not been independently verified, and no claim is made here about their identity. What can be said is that Townley's works are among the most actively collected in contemporary British art, with documented collectors including Al Pacino, Sylvester Stallone, and Robbie Williams — and that a second signature of this kind warrants investigation by any serious collector before acquisition.
