Mr. Brainwash (Thierry Guetta, b. 1966)
Love Reigns marks the centenary of Queen Elizabeth II's birth, taking a young Princess Elizabeth as its subject and rendering her through Mr. Brainwash's signature vocabulary of vibrant colour and layered Pop Art energy — the optimism and immediacy that define his practice applied to a royal image from the very beginning of a reign that would go on to define the modern monarchy.
The edition was unveiled aboard Queen Mary 2, Cunard's flagship vessel and one christened by Queen Elizabeth II herself in 2004 — a detail that ties two celebrated royal legacies together within the release's own history.
