About Vincent Devine: Hidden Shapes and the Subconscious
Vincent Devine is from County Offaly and works in Tullamore. He studied visual communications, then rediscovered painting while finishing his degree and took up acrylic on canvas. Acrylics dry quickly, which lets him build the ghostly layers that reveal hidden symbolism. His Ambigutree series began with a painting for his grandmother, for which he painted thirteen trees to represent her children. When he stepped back, he saw that the foliage had formed the shape of a body. Since then, the trees in this series have hidden shapes, some symbolic and some literal, that reward slow looking. His portraiture includes a triptych of the cancer campaigner Vicky Phelan that drew national coverage in Ireland. His own biography lists exhibitions in Dublin, London, Hong Kong, Toronto and Miami.
Neo-Dimensionism
Neo-Dimensionism is Devine's name for a body of work exploring the subconscious mind, which he describes as an attempt to "paint the unpaintable". Its Irish debut in 2018, according to his biography, sold out to a prominent collector. In 2023 he was invited to work with University College Dublin to depict the layers of cancer.

Capella (£4,950) shows a horse walking across a luminous blue field under a starry sky. Abundance (£6,950), 98 × 148 cm, shows a fallow stag with gilded antlers beneath an aurora-lit night sky, and Whistler's Horse is priced at £12,500.
