Bradley Theodore — Eternal Queen (Cardinal Red)
Bradley Theodore is a Turks and Caicos-born, New York-based artist whose energetic, large-scale paintings transform cultural icons into skeletal figures, revealing through the specific vocabulary of anatomy what lies beneath fame, status and surface glamour. Trained across graffiti, design and fine art, he has built an instantly recognisable visual language of vivid, gestural colour applied to skeletal form.
Eternal Queen is a celebration of Queen Elizabeth II in the artist's expressive style. Published by Manifold Editions in 2022 to coincide with the Platinum Jubilee, it draws on Theodore's 2017 painting of the Queen in profile wearing the Diamond Diadem, as on the English postage stamp. He combines etching with layers of relief printing, using highly saturated pigment and bold graphic forms, and the skeletal imagery that runs through his work shows quietly beneath the surface. It is part of his series of royal figures, past and present, in the Cardinal Red colourway and a limited edition of 50.
