مجموعة: Mary-Jane Alexander | Landscape, Figurative & Still Life Painter
Mary-Jane Alexander is a painter born in Zimbabwe who has lived and worked in the UK since 1977, now based in Surrey. Classically trained in anatomy, life drawing, sculpture, art history and architecture, her early career became closely associated with theatre, reflecting a deep interest in actors, dancers and the movement of the human body. She has held residencies at the Theatre Royal and Saltram House in Plymouth, and her work has appeared in the Sunday Times, House & Garden Magazine, National Trust Magazine and Hilton Guest Magazine, among others.
In more recent years Alexander has turned toward landscape, painting en plein air and dividing her time between Surrey and a studio in Campania, in the south of Italy, where she held her inaugural exhibition in 2015. All of her work — landscape, still life and figurative alike — is characterised by rich, confident impasto brushwork and a vivid, dramatic use of colour, painted directly and immediately from life.
Available through Creed Gallery, Ascot, for collectors across Berkshire, Surrey, and London.
